Simon Rinne is a social worker, therapist and lived experience mental health advocate. Simon’s passion for men’s mental health comes from his own struggle of living with mental illness over 30+ years. Simon shares his story to inspire men to recognise that it’s possible to live through mental illness, and still thrive in all aspects of their life. Outside of advocating for better men’s mental health, Simon is a husband and father of 2, and the founder of Mindful Men: a therapy practice dedicated to supporting men to switch off of autopilot, and switch on conscious living.

In this episode Jen and Simon discuss:

- Simon shares his journey of living with mental illness from childhood to adulthood and Undiagnosed obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), depression, and anxiety

- Simon shares what OCD was like for him, including checking behaviours related to safety and security, spending hours checking doors, windows, appliances, and even driving back home multiple times to check if the front door was locked and how alcohol was used as a way to cope and numb the anxiety

- They discuss the stigma around men asking for help and addressing mental health

- They discuss the differences between general psychology and coaching and how each can be supportive

- Jen shares her views on men having therapy and doing the inner work, and how women find it so attracted that men work on themselves

- They share ways in which parents can support their children from a young age for mental health and wellbeing

- Plus so much more
