Jonathon Glazer's latest film is uncompromisingly bleak, with even its slim glimmers of light only better illuminating our own guilt and complicity in society's continued evils. Starring Christian Friedel and Sandra Hüller, Glazer paints a cruelly slow picture of the commandant of Auschwitz, Rudolf Höss, and his wife, Hedwig, striving to build a dream life for their family in a house and garden next to the camp.
