While it may be called The Apple (1980), this movie is bananas. Set in a dubiously futuristic 1994 and packed with frenzied disco rock songs, this onslaught on the senses batters the viewer with unresolved contradictions, religious imagery, and sexy bodies sloppily hurtling themselves through humongous set pieces. And while the movie would probably like you to side with the fuddy-duddy evangelical hippies, it sure makes doing drugs, having sex, and dressing like a drag queen look awesome.
