At CES 2024 in Las Vegas, Auro BV unveiled a new scalable streaming audio codec named Auro CX that Auro claims will revolutionize the game by having near uncompressed quality audio even through television broadcasts and streaming. And DTS was back at CES claiming their "IMAX Enhanced Signature Sound by DTS" will debut on Disney Plus sometime in 2024 (despite already failing to deliver that same promise in 2023). Will this be the year of the Streaming Audio Wars? I love competition, since Dolby has dominated ever since Atmos came to be. But could this be the year the dragon is slain and a new champion is crowned? Only time will tell!
