Another episode of the Independent Thinking Show for @FifthWrist Radio. This is a place dedicate to showcasing the great people doing interesting and cool things in the world of horology. Join us, as hosts Adam (@mediumwatch) and Roman (@TimesRomanAU) for a chat with Jérémy Freléchox, Co-Founder @Vanguartwatches and timeforge.ch Jérémy is an incredible watchmaker and watch movement designer, who shares his deep knowledge of mechanics and passion for unique horological complications. With his watch company @Vanguartwatches, Jeremy makes perhaps the most interesting tourbillon wristwatch on the market (BlackHole Tourbillon), capable not only of displaying time in a unique way, but also giving the owner the option of making the time run forwards or backwards! (That’s correct - insanely cool). With his other company (timeforge.ch), Jeremy is a consultant in watch movement design and mechanical optimisation, helping other watchmaking companies design, optimise and improve their mechanism. Join us for a wide-ranging conversation, which encompasses everything from Jeremy’s early days working at AP Renaud i Papi, horological gearing standards; tourbillons; Guilloche and astronomical complications. We also talk about the Open Movement project Jeremy has been involved with; as well as the mechanical genius of Dr Ludwig Oeschlin. Honestly - this episode is a banger! We hope you enjoy this fun and a fascinating discussion. Special Shoutouts to: @OchsundJunior; Christian Gafner (@mih_watch) and @openmovement_watchmaking (openmovement.org) Recommendations Jérémy - @watchmaker.kl Adam - @jiro.katayama (Otsuka.lotec) Roman - Books: High End Horological Finishing and Decoration and Horological Alchemy by Denis Flageollet (of @De_bethune) Make sure to check out @vanguartwatches (www.vanguart.com) and www.timeforge.ch The vimeo clip of the original Blackhole tourbillon concept Jeremy mentioned in the episode is here.
