    Microsoft today announced the launch of a pilot program that lets Windows Phone developers respond to app reviews. The company says the roll-out will begin this week with a small group of developers who have been pre-selected to participate, though it didn’t say based on what criteria.
  • Dropbox Acquires Photo Storage Startup Loom
    Cloud photo storage service Loom announced today that it has been acquired by Dropbox.Loom is no longer accepting new users, and existing customers can keep using Loom until May 16. The firm will offer an option to export data over to Dropbox.
  • Nokia puts European Lumia 2520 sales on hold following potential electric shock risk from charger - The Next Web
    Nokia has issued a product recall for the European and UK variant of the AC-300 charger that is supplied with each sale of a Lumia 2520 tablet, following the discovery that it could cause harm to users.As a result of the issue, the 2520 tablet has been withdrawn from sale for the time being in some European markets (Austria, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Russia, Switzerland and UK) and the also affected “travel charger accessory” has been withdrawn from sale in the US. In the meantime, Nokia is advising that anyone who has the AC-300 charger or the travel charger accessory not to use them until further notice.
  • Google Q1 2014 earnings deliver $15.4 billion in revenue | The Verge
    Google reported its results for the first quarter of the year yesterday, posting revenue of $15.42 billion and earnings per share of $6.27. That missed analysts' estimates of $15.52 billion in revenue and earnings of $6.42 a share. That's a miss on the top and bottom line, and the stock is trending down in after-hours trading.The company's stock has been on a tremendous run. As the team over at Risk Reversal notes, Google is "one of the few mega cap stocks in the US that offers double-digit earnings growth. In fact, [Google] has grown earnings and sales at least 10 percent in every year since the stock IPO’ed back in 2004."
  • Google launches standalone Camera app in Play Store | The Verge
    Google has launched its own Camera app in the Play Store. Simply called Google Camera, the app looks a bit different from the camera software currently shipping in Android 4.4 KitKat. Google has made a number of improvements and refinements here, introducing a much cleaner interface "that gets out of your way" with a prominent shutter button. A brand new Lens Blur mode promises to achieve "SLR-like photos" offering a shallow depth of field.
  • PlayStation 4 surpasses 7 million units sold through worldwide | Polygon
    As of April 6, Sony's PlayStation 4 has sold through more than 7 million units worldwide, the company announced today.More than 20.5 million software sales have been made digitally and in retail stores worldwide, and players have used the system's share function more than 135 million times. Twitch and Ustream broadcasts have risen to more than 4.9 million with more than 90 million spectator sessions.According to president and group CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment Andrew House, the global community response "has been overwhelming."
