After abandoning discussing Martin Scorsese's Last Temptation of Christ, Christopher and John discuss how problematic Forrest Gump is. Marketed as an Everyman, John exposes that Gump is a mentally-handicapped super athlete. Knowing that Forrest is intellectually disabled, the boys discuss how the film's narrative is troublesome and how some of the characters who interact with Forrest are creepy and duplicitous. But this is all OK because the movie fetishizes nostalgia and makes its target audience, the Boomer Generation, feel good about themselves.
