The Mighty Gallatin is an adventure that took place over September 5th to September 11th, 2022; it was created by our Florida Man, Helgi Olafson! The goal of this event was to reach upwards of 350 miles in the Gallatin Mountain Range in Montana with emphasis on a reduced carbon footprint with a total elevation gain of 76,332 ft! Helgi is a yacht chef based out of South Florida. He has done races like the Cocodona 250 and has achieved the Triple Crown of 200’s having finished the Bigfoot 200, Tahoe 200, and the Moab 240 in 2021. Joining Helgi on the Stories from the Mighty Gallatin are Staci Whitsell-Revel and Phyllis Stanely! Staci started running in 2016 and went on to complete her first half marathon in Feb 2017. Now she has done races like the Bigfoot 200, Cocodona 250, Rocky Racoon, the Crazy Mountain 100, and the Badger Mountain 100! Phyllis is an Arizona native whose running started as part of her Navajo heritage growing up. She and her family would practice the teaching of running each morning to build discipline and strength. They would get up before sunrise and run to the east to greet the holy spirits that pass through the landscape blessing their children who are up calling out to them. She’s done races like the Cocodona 250, Bigfoot 200, Rocky Racoon, and the Javelina Jundred!
