What gives chicken wings the flavor… the sauce, well good for you, Hudson made sure he brought some extra! With Head of the Charles approaching in a few days, FSP brings you the one and only Philly native, Mr. Pete “Cipp” Cipollone, 2004 Men’s 8+ Olympic Gold Medalist Coxswain, and ‘97, ‘98, ‘99 World Champion.

Pete attended St. Joseph’s Prep for his high school years, and later on graduated from Cal Berkeley. An avid 9th seat, Cipp was apart of the most iconic and legendary eras of United States Rowing, coining him to be one of the greatest coxswains of all time. After months of playing the waiting game, FSP finally brings you a solid episode of what it means to face adversity head on, and be the best at one’s craft. With tons of life lessons shared from the man himself, Pete elaborated more on his personal experience being involved in Mike Teti’s coaching era for the US National Team. The articulation, respect, and pure leadership involved in the team during those years was one to none, most of those gentlemen being some of his best friends still to this day.
We talk about all things coxing, tips and tricks for HOCR and his course record along with viral row2k recording, the three most imperative skills a coxswain must have to be successful, memories coxing at the Philadelphia Catholic League Championships, Stotesbury Cup, and being invited back to Prep’s boathouse this past spring meeting the next generation of US athletes. This episode does get quite emotional, bringing up some sensitive topics that Pete endured during his Olympic years (both personal & athletic), but overall, it made him into the man he is today. Be sure to tune into this epic episode, a true “Bucket of Bliss” featuring Mr. Pete Cipollone.
