Sean Donohue is a rockstar in the family coaching world and the brains behind Parenting Modern Teens. He’s also the host of The Sean Donohue Show, which ranks among the top 10 parenting podcasts globally, and his videos and teachings have reached tens of millions worldwide.

In our conversation, we weaved our way through managing our anger when we’re triggered, emotion coaching and how we can apply that to our parenting styles.

We also talked about being present and intentional with our kids, getting comfortable with being uncomfortable and just being human and leaning in when we talk to our kids to build trust and connection with them every chance we have with them. Enjoy!

A Wide-Ranging Conversation Through…

  • Divorced parents: Choosing mom over Dad
  • Jon scared his Dad which led to a healing moment
  • Anger management
  • Appreciating the joy of family life
  • Let the punching bag hold your feelings
  • Chaos is temporary, find joy in those moments
  • Emotion coaching and diffusing with humor
  • Optimism for parenting in 21st century
  • Just be a human with your kids
  • Advocate for your kids
  • Defeating hopelessness by not hoping?
  • Leaning in with closeness and engagement
  • Parent the child you have, not the one you want
  • Build a foundation of connection and trust

FRD is solving a huge problem for dads. Our culture has turned “Dad” into a joke. Go ahead, google Dad and you’ll find Dad Bod, Dad Jokes, Dad Weed, etc. Culturally, it’s a Homer Simpson mentality, and it’s BS.

Our community is built for solid men. Men with range. Those who are badass, and know there’s still more to learn, together.

Most guys find it hard to find “their crew.” Finding other committed men, who are successful in life, and want to put family first – these guys are rare. Is this you?

In FRD, hundreds of men from all over the world show up for each other, to share resources and raise the bar of fatherhood (our core values)

If you’re reading this, you want to grow. Podcasts are great, but guys… when you’re ready to stop just listening to content, and want to JOIN the conversations – the FRD brotherhood is ready for you.

One more thing…
