Sarah Snyder is a writer, editor, and conservationist whose passion is helping others connect spiritually to the outdoors, nature, and science. She has been writing professionally since 1991.
One of her books “The Value of Your Soul” is on my table every morning, because I still use it to meditate to, and her DIY Retreat book, is what I’m reading right now. Her use of Rumi's work in her books is a big part of what makes them so meaningful and so full of soul.

This time of year women tend to give and give and give and give. In this episode we’re talking about how we can learn to give OURSELVES the gift of receiving.
This being human is a guest house.
Every morning a new arrival.

A joy, a depression, a meanness,
some momentary awareness comes
as an unexpected visitor.

Welcome and entertain them all!
Even if they’re a crowd of sorrows,
who violently sweep your house
empty of its furniture,
still, treat each guest honorably.
He may be clearing you out
for some new delight.

The dark thought, the shame, the malice,
meet them at the door laughing,
and invite them in.

Be grateful for whoever comes,
because each has been sent
as a guide from beyond.
