In 1931 the Rural Municipality of Marquis issued their own currency. Located north of Moose Jaw and west of Regina this municipality issued currency to help residents pay their debt to the municipality. It also issued this currency so RM employees were paid during the Great Depression. What makes this municipal depression scrip so rare? Why did it have such a short lived lifespan?
