Airbnb has seen rapid growth in the last 10 years, and now boasts more than three million available properties in more than 65,000 cities around the world. With so many listings on the site it's important to get your listing right.

Many first-time Airbnb hosts focus on getting the practical elements right such as kitchen supplies, comfortable beds and bedding and packaged bathroom products to name a few. The practical elements do matter and it is important to nail this, however these aren't the only important elements.

If you search listings in your area, you may find hundreds or thousands of listings offering the same basic needs, so how do you stand out from the crowd? In the world of Airbnb, a picture is worth a thousand words to a potential guest but this doesn't mean that you have to furnish you property with expensive furnishings and decor.

This week I speak to Sofia Bak, who quit her job in pursuit of happiness. She couldn’t find her path for a long time, but then ended up Airbnbing a living room in her apartment in Alameda (outside SF) to make rent and making that first step helped her to see her purpose.

Now renting 4 apartments and Airbnbing 3 of them, she set up her niche business “ARTbnb”, which she does inexpensively but makes them look really cool.
