Rockshow Episode 181 Mick Ronson Mick Ronson was a British musician, songwriter, and record producer. He is best known for his work as the lead guitarist and musical collaborator for David Bowie in the early 1970s. Ronson's distinctive guitar playing and inventive arrangements played a significant role in shaping Bowie's sound during that era. Born on May 26, 1946, in Kingston upon Hull, England, Ronson began his career as a session musician, working with various artists and bands. He joined David Bowie's backing band, the Spiders from Mars, in 1970, and his contributions were vital to the success of Bowie's albums like "The Man Who Sold the World," "Hunky Dory," and "Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars." Mick Ronson's guitar work was characterized by his melodic lines, rich tones, and a keen sense of arrangement. His performances, both on stage and in the studio, were marked by a combination of technical prowess and emotional depth. Ronson's contributions extended beyond guitar playing, as he also arranged strings and played piano on several tracks. After parting ways with Bowie, Ronson went on to release his solo albums, including "Slaughter on 10th Avenue" in 1974 and "Play Don't Worry" in 1975. He continued to collaborate with various artists throughout his career, such as Ian Hunter, Bob Dylan, Morrissey, and many more. Tragically, Mick Ronson passed away on April 29, 1993, at the age of 46, due to liver cancer. However, his impact on music and his enduring influence as a guitarist and producer continue to be recognized and celebrated by fans and musicians alike. https://www.guitarplayer.com/players/mick-ronson-the-rise-and-fall-of-glam-rocks-greatest-guitarist https://www.allmusic.com/artist/mick-ronson-mn0000467853/biography #MickRonson #GuitarLegend #BowieCollaborator #RocknRollIcon #Ronno #SpidersFromMars #GlamRock #MusicLegend #GuitarHero #MusicInnovation Park Dental Care 12419 101st Ave South Richmond Hill Queens (718) 847-3800 https://www.718DENTISTS.com Please follow us on Youtube,Facebook,Instagram,Twitter,Patreon and at www.gettinglumpedup.com https://linktr.ee/RobRossi Get your T-shirt at https://www.prowrestlingtees.com/gettinglumpedup And https://www.bonfire.com/store/getting-lumped-up/ Subscribe to the channel and hit the like button This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/rob-rossi/support https://www.patreon.com/Gettinglumpedup
