This week’s movie takes a cursory glance at this silly movie about dead people, monster-type bad guys and supernatural lazer guns. We’ve come to expect Ryan Reynolds to deliver barely plausible blockbuster effects movies to the cineplex and this isn’t his first GMGB rodeo. However, it is the first time we’ve had to involve Jeff Bridges in proceedings. Luckily for him, due to past work and really knowing how to make a rug tie a room together, he gets a pass. What doesn’t get a pass is this movie. Sure, a lot of stuff does happen and your eyes are given plenty to do. But it’s pretty hard to ignore the fact that this is extremely close to M.I.B. territory, and we think there have been just about enough of those.
