Ep. 37 – Sexual Meditation, Middle Aged Virility and Chicago Radio Wars

Mike laying it down like a cosmic insect.

Mike wonders if it is possible to have sex while meditating. Jones tells Mike that he thinks that it is rather, impossible, to meditate during sex. Mike counters Jones thoughts of impossibility on the matter and informs Jones that when he makes love he often lay motionless, like an insect, and he believes that this lethargic style of copulation will allow him to meditate and procreate all at the same time. Transitioning from meditation and love making to the manipulation of the human form, Jones (a fairly skinny guy to begin with) buys a fat burning dietary supplement. Mike wonders if the supplement will add “vitality” to Jones’s person, i.e. stronger erections. Though not the purpose for purchasing the supplement Jones is open to more “vitality” coming into his life and assures Mike that he will “monitor” the situation. As the guys talk about life in the “middle ages” Mike and Jones talk about older athletes and the ravages of the aging process. All this talk of physiques leads Jones to once again recall Mike’s love for Kobe Bryant and Roy Jones’s bodies. Switching gears entirely Mike and Jones talk Radio Wars in Chicago as former Chicago Shock Jock, Steve Dahl, and WGN Radio’s Steve Cochran come to virtual blows on the internet. Jones and Mike talk about the animus that exists among so many broadcasters and the odd competitive nature that arises in a medium where connecting with the people is the key to ratings and success. Jones recalls the morning that he and Mike had breakfast with syndicated radio star, Doug Banks. They discuss the robe, eye patch and chunk of egg that he wore on his face as he dined with the guys in the middle of the Allerton Hotel; one of the fondest memories of Jones’s storied radio career. Leaving radio behind Jones asks Mike for his best kept secret in entertainment and the guys wind up discussing local rock band, Company of Thieves…and strangely, JBTV’s Jerry Bryant. Mike also sells Jones on his favorite, and often over looked, television show “Live from Darryl’s House,” a music show featuring the legendary Darryl Hall of Hall and Oates fame.
