Episode 24 - Moving

Please join in the Ravelry group for this podcast.

Rave - express manicures with Nail Envy. I didn’t know that they had so many colors of this stuff.

Rant - squirrels and their walnut eating habits.

Events

The Michigan Machine Knitting Guild has a group on Ravelry. Our next meeting is October 24.

I forgot to mention the Ann Arbor Fall Fiber Expo - late notice - October 22-23 at the fairgrounds.

I saw Diana Sullivan at the Interknits event in Illinois in October. Shelly was there. Want to listen to my interview with her?

I saw Sandee Cherry and all 50 of her books and patterns in Grand Rapids.

Acquisitions

I bought a used Singer DL-1000 Linker from a guild member. I am a convert!

I am getting a Brother Knit Leader and the Diana Sullivan DVD about using it.

There is a similar device called a Knit Radar for Studio/Sliver Reed machines. Susan G. made a video years ago all about the LK150 machine and in it, she also demonstrates a knit radar. I couldn’t find a link to it unfortunately.

Design A Knit software does a lot and costs a lot. It might be just what you need.

I enjoy designing Garment Designer software.

Brother made an accessory to use on the machine bed that will link pieces together or bind off live stitches. It is a version of the big drum linkers. Here’s an image of one Brother Linker.

The Shadow Lace Tool is a jaws-like device that transfers stitches between the main and the ribber beds. It will work on any standard gauge machine.

I bought 40 pounds of coned yarn at Davidson’s Old Mill Yarn.

Hand Knitting

I’m having yarn management issues knitting the Felted Clogs. I’m trying to use up all the Lion Brand Fisherman wool yarn without actually having to go buy more to finish.

The Peekaboo Mitts are knitted, needle felted, and presented to the grandson. I used Nature Spun sport weight.

I’m making a pair of Arch-Shaped Socks by Jen Showwalter of Mean Girl Design with Ambiente yarn. These are to be a gift.

Left and Right Mittens made for my daughter.

Machine Knitting

I made a second panel for the Bathroom curtain using my bulky machine and ribber.

I also made a dishcloth using some cotton yarn. I used the #30 pattern from Stitchworld, elongated over 50 needles and knit 176 rows of tuck.

Resources

Still looking for Audrey Palmer’s book on the subject - Create with Knit-Weave. What is the Louis System?

There is another Susan Gaugliumi Craftsy class coming soon.

Vegemetarianism

Poached salmon is delicious and good for me. This is a link the the Cook’s Illustrated recipe that I use. I think I’m not allowed to post the recipe without permission so it may be that you won’t be able to see it without a paid membership. Shrimp doesn’t taste as good as I remember.
