Hi everyone,
Please welcome with me Cayathri Divakalala from Sri Lanka. Caya is an activist researcher with more than 20 years of experience in the social justice realm working on many different topics. Facing many challenges in her life, as a queer person of color, she has been dedicated to bring social changes. In 2021 she co-founded Adhikaar Aotearoa, a charitable trust working with LGBT+ communities of color. You can follow her work on Instagram (see link below) or on their website (also below).
In this episode Caya and I are talking about the challenges of growing up with war and seeing people suffer. Wanting to help and to do something good for the people of your home country.
We also talk about how she navigates her life as a queer person of color and how Caya is determined of helping people around her. She is introducing her charitable trust to us and is showing us where you can find help and support in New Zealand as a queer person of color.
