We had the pleasure of speaking with Kirsty Wilson AKA The Midlife Transformer - the first guest we’ve invited on that we didn’t know very well!
Kirsty is a Nutritionist, Fitness Coach and Scientist and helps midlife women be the healthiest they can be - mind and body.
A lot of this discussion was around the menopause and the complex changes that happen to women for up to 10 years (perimenopause) before they are officially menopausal. We spoke a lot about hormones and the chain reactions that occur, leading to some of the well known theories about weight gain and general health in middle age. Kirsty gives great advice on how we can support our bodies through these changes and how we can eat to support our health.
Another hugely inspirational and insightful element of this conversation was the benefit of strength training and how vital it is for women of all ages but especially in middle age. It was so inspiring that since we had this conversation Susie and I have been implementing strength training into our schedules ever since! When someone as knowledgable in science and in female health and wellness as Kirsty is tells you that her top tip for healthy ageing is strength training - you listen!!
Kirsty’s absolute passion for what she does is infectious. In a world where it can be so difficult to decipher all of the information out there and on a topic that is somehow still a bit of a taboo, this was an eye opening conversation and we think you will love it!
