Nearly three decades after 81-year-old widow Gerthie Carolina was found savagely beaten and stabbed to death in her rural Oklahoma home, authorities have charged two of her relatives with murder, alleging they killed her to obtain a $40,000 inheritance. According to the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI), the case remained unsolved for 28 years until forensic testing revealed Carolina’s blood on a shoe belonging to her then-17-year-old grandniece, Dakota Davis , who was present at the crime scene in 1997. Davis, now 45, and Carolina’s niece, 81-year-old Carolyn Foreman , were both arrested and charged Friday with first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder. Carolina’s body was found in August 1997 at her home in Sasakwa, a small town of fewer than 200 residents. An autopsy showed she died from multiple stab wounds and blunt force trauma. At the time, Foreman and Davis told investigators they discovered Carolina’s body around 3:15 a.m. when they arrived to take her to a doctor’s appointment. However, investigators now allege the pair were motivated by a $40,000 certificate of deposit placed in a living trust for Foreman just four months before Carolina’s death. Court filings say Foreman and Davis cashed out the trust days after the widow was killed, believing they were entitled to the money. In the years since, Davis allegedly confessed to killing her great aunt on multiple occasions, sometimes referring to an ax or a machete. Investigators say Davis’ father also told them that in 2001 his daughter admitted “chopping up” Carolina while Foreman urged her, “Hit her again, hit her again,” during the attack. Family disputes were reportedly brewing prior to the murder, including an incident in which Carolina confronted Foreman, accusing her niece of stealing from her bank account. Foreman, who has been married for 51 years and suffers from dementia, was arrested in Midwest City, Oklahoma. Davis was taken into custody in Sacramento, California. Foreman was previously charged with first-degree murder in the 1999 shooting death of a 16-year-old, though that charge was dismissed. Her son was later convicted in that case and is serving a life sentence. Seminole County District Attorney Erik Johnson praised investigators for their persistence in pursuing the case. “This case is a testament to the relentless dedication of these investigators and our unwavering pursuit of justice, even decades after a crime is committed,” Johnson said in a statement. “We hope this brings some measure of peace to Gerthie Carolina’s family after all these years.” Want to listen to ALL of our podcasts AD-FREE? Breaking Down Bryan Kohbergers Disturbing Patterns Of Behavior With Ret FBI Robin Dreeke Did the alleged Idaho killer outsmart himself by studying outdated crimes? Turns out, earning a PhD in criminology doesn’t automatically make you good at crime. In this episode of Hidden Killers with Tony Brueski , retired FBI Special Agent Robin Dreeke breaks down the latest revelations in the alleged case against Bryan Kohberger—who, it seems, may have shopped for murder tools the same way the rest of us buy socks: on Amazon. From buying the exact model of knife used in the slayings (allegedly), to picking up a sharpener—possibly the same item mistaken as a “vacuum attachment” by one of the surviving roommates—Kohberger’s alleged actions continue to paint a picture of someone dangerously intelligent but fatally naïve. Dreeke and Brueski dig into how Kohberger’s alleged digital footprint, online purchases, and attempts to stay off the radar all seem to contradict the kind of wisdom you'd expect from someone with a criminology background. Was he trying to live out a criminal profile he'd studied, like some 21st-century Bundy impersonator with a Prime membership? And if the evidence keeps stacking up like this, what else is waiting to be revealed in his browser history? #BryanKohberger #TrueCrimePodcast #IdahoMurders #HiddenKillers #RobinDreeke #Criminology #DarkCrime Want to listen to ALL of our podcasts AD-FREE? Could The Execution Of Bryan Kohberger Be Life Streamed, Bob & Tony Ponder The Insanity What happens when the quest for justice collides with our darkest curiosities? In this episode, Tony Brueski and defense attorney Bob Motta dive headfirst into the surreal territory of capital punishment, asking whether we’re inching dangerously close to a society that might just livestream a firing squad. From public executions in the town square to hypothetical pay-per-view death penalties, it’s a chilling reflection on how far we’ve come—or maybe how far we haven’t. The conversation shifts from the spectacle to the serious, examining the mounting evidence in the alleged case against Bryan Kohberger, and the pressure facing defense attorney Anne Taylor. With death penalty debates, strategic legal maneuvering, and questions of basic humanity at the core, this episode doesn’t shy away from the uncomfortable. Kohberger Want's A Strict 'Dress Code' Enforced At His Trial Why would someone take a thumbs-up selfie the morning after allegedly committing a quadruple homicide? That’s just one of the bizarre details surrounding Bryan Kohberger, whose case keeps getting weirder by the day. Tony Brueski and former felony prosecutor Eric Faddis break down the latest revelations, including Kohberger’s alleged purchase of the exact weapon used in the crime, his eerie social media behavior, and the defense's new motion to prevent victims’ families from wearing certain clothing in court. Could this motion actually work? And with all the damning evidence stacking up, is Ann Taylor now just fighting to keep Kohberger alive rather than proving his innocence? At this point, is a trial even necessary, or are we just watching a slow-motion fall toward the inevitable? #BryanKohberger #TrueCrime #HiddenKillers #CriminalDefense #DeathPenalty #JusticeForTheVictims #CrimeAnalysis Want to listen to ALL of our podcasts AD-FREE? Watch Karen Read's Vile Statements & Attitude Towards Victim Families & Friends Did Karen Read’s courtroom demeanor just sink her case? The latest courtroom antics of alleged killer Karen Read are raising more than just eyebrows. When the jury's out, she's laughing, chatting, even posing for pictures. But once they're in, it’s all pursed lips and stone-cold stares. Is this just a defense strategy, or does it reveal something deeper? Meanwhile, the prosecution might have more ammo than just forensic evidence—they could use her own demeanor against her. And let’s not forget the defense’s wild theory that’s been playing out like a crime novel: Did a group of cops really beat one of their own and frame her for it? Or is this just the ultimate courtroom gamble that could backfire spectacularly? Ret FBI Behavioral Analysis Chief Breaks Down Kohberger's Knife Purchase & Selfie Could a killer really be caught by his Amazon cart? As new evidence trickles—no, floods —into the spotlight, the case against alleged murderer Bryan Kohberger gets weirder by the click. Retired FBI Special Agent Robin Dreeke joins Tony Brueski to break down the latest bombshells, including Kohberger’s alleged purchase of a K-Bar knife, matching sheath, and sharpener... all conveniently traceable online. Because who needs a burner phone when you have Prime? What does it say when the guy possibly planning a mass murder also buys the tool to maintain his blade’s edge? And better yet—does he pack it for the trip, like a toothbrush? Dreeke and Brueski dive into the mind of someone who might be dangerously intelligent—but just not wise enough to outwit modern forensic technology. With his behavior showing patterns of someone more obsessed with methodology than morality, one has to ask—was this just the beginning? The Insulin Injection That Sparked a Murder Charge She wasn’t prescribed insulin. And she didn’t need it. But she got it anyway—twenty units, straight to the shoulder, allegedly from her own daughter. It was just before midnight on May 25th, 2023, when first responders arrived at an apartment in Grafton, West Virginia. They were there for a cardiac arrest call. Inside, they found 81-year-old Ethel Moore already dead. Her body was lying on the bed in the back room. Her daughter, 61-year-old Kelly Louise Moore, was there too—on the phone, telling someone, “It’s bad.” She seemed, according to police, more annoyed than distressed. When paramedics asked what happened, Kelly told them her mother’s blood sugar had been high, so she gave her insulin. Not hers, but Kelly’s. Kelly has diabetes and is prescribed insulin. Her mother was not. One of the EMTs on scene told the first cop who showed up, “I think she really killed her.” And that hunch would later be backed up by science. Kelly Moore said she hadn’t been feeling well that night either—claimed her own blood sugar was low, so she went to bed around 8:30 p.m. Ethel, recovering from a recent hip replacement, also wasn’t feeling great. That’s when Kelly said she checked her mom’s blood sugar twice. It was high both times, so she decided to give her some of her insulin. She told police, “I gave her some of my insulin.” The amount? Twenty units. That’s a hefty dose—especially considering Kelly herself, who is more than double her mother’s weight, takes 30 units per dose under her doctor’s care. And her mother wasn’t prescribed any. At all. Police noticed that Kelly seemed irritated throughout the interaction. She mentioned how much her mother was dealing with—arthritis, heart issues, dementia—and that she was the one "elected" to live with her since she was the only sibling not married. She allegedly told cops, “She had all kinds of s— wrong with her.” But on the same day she died, Ethel had called her other daughter in Florida, saying Kelly “wasn’t doing nothing for her.” That daughter called back in a panic, concerned that their mother wasn’t being taken care of. According to the affidavit, Kelly never told her sister that she had given Ethel insulin—only that she’d died, letting the family believe it was complications from surgery. It wasn’t until August 2024, more than a year later, that the medical examiner’s report came back. Cause of death: insulin shock. Manner of death: homicide. After hearing that, detectives circled back to the sister in March. She handed over the death certificate—likely still under the impression this was all post-op related. Then, just last week, police arrested Kelly Moore. She’s now in the Tygart Valley Regional Jail without bond, charged with murder in the death of her mother. Ethel Moore’s obituary paints a very different picture than the cold details in the affidavit. It describes a woman who hugged everyone she met, who found joy in trips to Walmart and McDonald’s, and who could strike up a conversation with just about anyone. A woman who read books, loved her family, and lived a full life—until one decision ended it. #TrueCrime #WestVirginia #ElderAbuse #InsulinHomicide Want to listen to ALL of our podcasts AD-FREE? A Sky Full of Holes: Weather Records Aim to Undercut Kohberger’s Alibi It was a dark and cloudy night—literally. According to records from the National Weather Service, that’s not just a dramatic opener—it’s the kind of detail Idaho prosecutors say could help dismantle Bryan Kohberger’s defense. On November 13, 2022, Kohberger allegedly left his apartment in Pullman, Washington, around 4 a.m., drove a short distance to Moscow, Idaho, and fatally stabbed four University of Idaho students inside their off-campus home. He says he was just out for a drive. A moody, late-night cruise through the Palouse to clear his head and maybe catch some stars. But the government is now pointing to a cloudy, foggy, and unusually cold morning as evidence that his story doesn’t quite match up with the conditions outside. Prosecutors want to introduce detailed weather data into the upcoming trial, pulling from the National Weather Service records in the area during the night in question. And they’ve got expert analysis to back it up. FOX Weather meteorologist Andrew Wulfeck reviewed the observations and found that visibility was reduced due to fog, with low clouds that wouldn’t have made for much of a stargazing experience. Not a blackout-level fog, but enough to paint the night sky with a dull, overcast haze. As Wulfeck put it, “not the greatest night” for a celestial joyride. The timing and purpose of Kohberger’s alleged drive have been a central piece of his defense. In court filings, his attorneys describe a routine behavior—driving in the early morning hours to run, hike, or take in the sky. But prosecutors aren’t buying it, and the weather records could help them argue that the conditions were inconsistent with that kind of activity. Wulfeck explained that temperatures on both November 12 and 13 were lower than seasonal averages, due to a ridge of high pressure in the region. Sky conditions, wind speeds, and even sunrise and sunset times all added up to one thing: a cold, cloudy night with no real celestial action overhead. The nearest weather station is located at the Pullman-Moscow Regional Airport—almost exactly between Kohberger’s apartment and the King Road crime scene. That location reported fog and reduced visibility but not enough to cause official alerts. Still, the takeaway is clear: if someone was out that night looking to hike under the stars, they would’ve needed a serious imagination—or night vision. And just to top it off, there was no eclipse, no supermoon, no cosmic event to give a stargazer any real reason to be out there. It was just a dull, gray sky—pretty much the last place you'd want to be if the stars were what you were chasing. This seemingly simple data point—weather—may become a strategic strike in the larger case against Kohberger. Prosecutors are challenging his alibi in court and want the records, along with other evidence, admitted at trial. That includes Amazon purchase history that allegedly ties Kohberger to a Ka-Bar knife and sheath, the same kind of sheath found under one of the victims, with Kohberger’s DNA allegedly recovered from its snap. The defense, unsurprisingly, wants all of that kept out. Weather data. Amazon records. Anything that could further paint a picture they’re trying hard to dispute. Kohberger is accused of four students in the early morning hours of November 13. Six hours after the killings, Kohberger allegedly took a smiling selfie in front of an empty shower. His attorneys say he was just out for a drive. Prosecutors say the clouds don’t lie. Jury selection is set to begin July 30, with the trial expected to start August 11. #BryanKohberger #IdahoFour #TrueCrimeTrial #KohbergerCase Want to listen to ALL of our podcasts AD-FREE? Ret FBI Behavior Analysis Chief Breaks Down Karen Read's Contradicting Statements & Actions Did a true crime documentary just tank Karen Read’s defense? When you're facing an alleged second-degree murder charge, most folks would advise you to keep your head down, stay quiet, and maybe—just maybe— not hand your unfiltered stream of consciousness to a documentary crew. But that’s exactly what Karen Read did in “Body in the Snow” , the HBO Max/ID doc that might double as a cautionary tale for anyone with a pending trial. Tony Brueski and former FBI Behavioral Analyst Robin Dreeke break down Read’s on-camera contradictions—from her teary musings of “What if I ran over his foot?” to suddenly being sure she didn’t touch a hair on his head. The emotional tone? Weirdly upbeat. The logic? Like a drunk game of Clue with a broken compass. Robin calls it “word salad.” Tony calls it narcissistic. We just call it… yikes. Then there’s the blogger—Turtleboy—who Read allegedly had daily contact with, feeding him info while he stirred a digital witch hunt. Online harassment, stalking, intimidation… and it’s not even the second trial yet. The Kohberger Selfie That Could Seal His Fate, Bob Motta & Tony Break It Down What kind of person allegedly buys a knife, a sheath, and a sharpener months before a brutal quadruple murder—and then takes a thumbs-up selfie in front of a shower hours after the crime? In this chilling (and oddly absurd) episode of Hidden Killers with Tony Brueski , defense attorney and Defense Diaries host Bob Motta joins Tony to dig into the latest revelations in the alleged case against Bryan Kohberger. With new evidence pointing to a suspicious shopping list—knife, sheath, sharpener (aka the creepiest vacuum attachment ever)—the timeline may be starting to close in. Motta and Brueski break down whether this kind of purchase, made months before the crime, can really prove intent—or if it just paints a deeply disturbing picture of preparation. Speaking of pictures, what’s with the selfie Kohberger allegedly took post-crime? Pale as a ghost, standing in front of a shower, giving a thumbs-up—was it a trophy, or a bat signal to the internet’s darkest corners? Is the defense going to be able to explain any of this away—or is this knife already in too deep? #BryanKohberger #TrueCrimeToday #HiddenKillersPodcast #IdahoFour #CrimeSceneEvidence #DarkHumorCrime #DefenseDiaries Want to listen to ALL of our podcasts AD-FREE? Was Karen Read’s biggest mistake the alleged crime—or everything that came after? With jury selection looming and a five-part docuseries shaking up public perception, the case against Karen Read is more than just a courtroom drama—it’s an all-out war of narratives. But beyond the question of whether she struck her boyfriend with her car, there’s another storm brewing: her deep connection with controversial blogger “Turtle Boy.” Read’s daily communication with him, as revealed in the documentary, raises serious questions about witness intimidation, media manipulation, and just how far she was willing to go to shape public opinion. Is this just an aggressive defense strategy, or did she cross the line into something far more dangerous? And as her own words come back to haunt her, could they do more damage than any piece of evidence ever could? #KarenRead #TrueCrime #HiddenKillers #TurtleBoy #WitnessIntimidation #LegalDrama #Justice Want to listen to ALL of our podcasts AD-FREE? The Stunning Self-Destruction Of Karen Read Fueled By An Egomaniac Blogger Did Karen Read's alleged media manipulation just backfire in the worst possible way? In this jaw-dropping dive into the Karen Read case, Tony Brueski and former FBI Special Agent Jennifer Coffindaffer unravel the tangled web of alleged collusion between Read and controversial blogger "Turtleboy." With daily conversations, backchannel leaks, and a PR war waged across social media, what started as a murder trial now looks like it’s spilling into something much bigger—and much darker. We’re talking leaked deathbed photos, alleged witness intimidation, and a full-blown harassment campaign that’s left victims and families in emotional ruins. Read’s own words might be the most incriminating of all, showing not just knowledge but seemingly pride in the chaos surrounding her case. Is this strategy to sway public opinion actually setting her up for a legal disaster? Could her ally end up being her undoing? #KarenReadCase #TrueCrimePodcast #HiddenKillers #WitnessIntimidation #TurtleboyScandal #JusticeForJohnOKeefe #TrueCrimeCommunity Want to listen to ALL of our podcasts AD-FREE? 1 8 Passengers Fallout: Divorce Finalized as Ruby Franke Serves Prison Time 11:47

The story of Ruby Franke officially closed a major chapter this week as a Utah judge signed off on her divorce from Kevin Franke—marking the legal end to a marriage that once played out in front of millions on YouTube, before unraveling in one of the most disturbing child abuse cases the state has seen in years. It’s now on paper: the marriage that began in 2000, spanned six children, and was broadcast through a curated lens on the “8 Passengers” channel, is over. But the real story isn’t the divorce. It’s the fact that Kevin Franke is now the sole legal guardian of their four remaining minor children—kids who were, until recently, trapped in an abusive nightmare behind the closed doors of a so-called parenting enterprise. Let’s rewind to how we got here. In August 2023, the illusion broke. One of the youngest Franke children—emaciated, injured, and desperate—escaped out of a window from the home of Jodi Hildebrandt in Ivins, Utah. That home wasn’t a safehouse. It was a crime scene. The boy went to a neighbor’s house asking for food and water, and what they saw led them to call police immediately. Authorities later found his sister in similar condition. The two women at the center—Ruby Franke and her business partner, Jodi Hildebrandt—were arrested and eventually admitted to four counts each of aggravated child abuse, a second-degree felony. According to Washington County Attorney Eric Clarke, the kids had been kept in conditions he described as “concentration camp-like.” We're talking about extreme malnutrition, physical injuries, emotional torment—the works. Ruby Franke is now serving at least four years in Utah State Prison, with four consecutive sentences of one to fifteen years each. She’s admitted to a range of abuses, including physically torturing her son, dunking his head underwater, forcing him into strenuous physical tasks, and making both children stand in direct sunlight for long periods without food or water. This wasn’t “tough love.” It was cruelty, systemized and delivered under the pretense of discipline. Meanwhile, the divorce paperwork went through the usual formalities. Filed under “irreconcilable differences”—which feels like calling a wildfire a small campfire. Kevin Franke submitted the signed stipulation in early March, and by March 20th, Judge Roger Griffin finalized the divorce decree. Under the agreement, Kevin walks away with full custody, their Springville home, and a 2.8-acre property in Scofield. Ruby gets to keep $85,000 she withdrew before they split, but the rest of the couple’s joint financial accounts go to Kevin, with the exception of an investment account in her name. Kevin also agreed not to pursue child support from Ruby, effectively considering anything owed already paid. It’s a move that might say more about his priorities—focused on healing the kids rather than fighting over dollars. Neither side asked for alimony. Apparently, they both have what they need to move on—at least financially. What’s more, despite everything, Ruby Franke has chosen to keep the last name “Franke.” Whether that’s a legal convenience or something deeper is anyone’s guess, but it’s a curious choice given the devastation tied to that name now. Both Ruby and Jodi Hildebrandt accepted plea deals that cut their total charges from six to four. But make no mistake—the weight of what they admitted to remains enormous. They each face up to 60 years behind bars, though with Utah's system, they’ll be eligible for parole after four. At her sentencing, Ruby addressed her children, thanking the police for “saving them”—and, she said, saving her. She claimed that being handcuffed was the beginning of her freedom, describing herself as so twisted by manipulation that she believed “dark was light and right was wrong.” It’s a haunting statement, especially when you consider the cost it came with. In the end, the legal lines are drawn. Kevin Franke has custody. Ruby Franke has convictions. And six children are now trying to rebuild a childhood that was shattered under the watchful eye of a camera and the hidden weight of abuse. #8PassengersCase #RubyFranke #ChildAbuseSentencing #FrankeDivorceFinalized Want to listen to ALL of our podcasts AD-FREE?
