Welcome to episode two of _How To Go To Work,_ the podcast that accompanies the book _How To Go To Work_ (Penguin, February 2020). Each week authors Lucy Clayton and Steven Haines will be asking guest to take us right back to the beginning of their career. We’re not interested in stellar success stories or show off narratives – this is a show about the start of things. However famous our guests are, we start with their Saturday job. Tracking the progress from early work experience through to guest’s current life, we examine what was learnt on the way, how the journey developed, how people are held back or inspired further. This week’s episode features writer Jude Yawson. He’s the co-author and editor of the story of Stormzy’s meteoric rise to fame, [Rise Up: The #Merky Story So Far](https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07F7F7MFC/). The first publication from the new imprint [#Merky Books](https://www.penguin.co.uk/company/publishers/cornerstone/merky-books.html) (part of Penguin Random House UK), dedicated to publishing the best new fiction, non-fiction and poetry. Curated by Stormzy, this project forms a home for a new generation of voices. Their book is evocative of a particular point in time and a particular energy, but as the title suggests it’s also about beginnings. Join Lucy and Jude as they discuss his journey from being serially excluded from education, to becoming a bestselling author, and everything in between. * [How To Go To Work: The honest advice no one ever tells you at the start of your career — published by Penguin](https://www.amazon.co.uk/How-Go-Work-Honest-Advice/dp/0241399467/ref=tmm_pap_swatch_0?_encoding=UTF8&qid=1580036511&sr=8-1) * [BBC Words First](https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/articles/4vMSbh4t5xmTgMCg4NJ6ntQ/words-first-are-you-the-next-spoken-word-star) * [Jude’s Vanity Fair piece](https://www.vanityfair.com/london/2019/02/jude-yawson-writing-sustainability-stormzy) Email or follow the show on Twitter, @[howtogotowork](https://twitter.com/howtogotowork/).
