Welcome to episode one of _How To Go To Work_, the podcast that accompanies the book _How To Go To Work_ (Penguin, February 2020). Each week authors Lucy Clayton and Steven Haines will be asking guest to take us right back to the beginning of their career. We’re not interested in stellar success stories or show off narratives – this is a show about the start of things. However famous our guests are, we start with their Saturday job. Tracking the progress from early work experience through to guest’s current life, we examine what was learnt on the way, how the journey developed, how people are held back or inspired further. Our first guest, author Simon Sinek is, first and foremost, an optimist. That spirit imbues all his books, _Start with Why, Leaders Eat Last and Together is Better_ which have garnered him a devoted following all over the world. His TED talk “How Great Leaders Inspire Action” is one of the most viewed of all time. And his new book, _The Infinite Game_ challenges readers to help build a world in which the vast majority of people wake up every single day feeling inspired, feel safe at work, and feel fulfilled at the end of the day. Join Lucy and Simon as they talk about the myth of work/life balance, the benefits of having a bad boss and why you should _never_ take your phone into a meeting. * [How To Go To Work: The honest advice no one ever tells you at the start of your career — published by Penguin](https://www.amazon.co.uk/How-Go-Work-Honest-Advice/dp/0241399467/ref=tmm_pap_swatch_0?_encoding=UTF8&qid=1580036511&sr=8-1) * [Simon Sinek’s books — published by Penguin](https://www.penguin.co.uk/authors/71661/simon-sinek.html) * [Simon’s website](https://simonsinek.com) * Follow @[simonsinek](https://twitter.com/simonsinek) on Twitter * Follow @[mslucyclayton](https://twitter.com/mslucyclayton) on Twitter Email or follow the show on Twitter, @[howtogotowork](https://twitter.com/howtogotowork/).
