Think of it this way... it is the ultimate car showroom, with 750 vehicles on display on the equivalent of 85 basketball courts.

The North American International Auto Show has been around since 1989, and since then some 1500 new vehicles have been introduced at the show. However its roots go back to 1907, when it was the Detroit Area Dealer Association.

Over the course of this month's show more than 800,000 people will visit, making it a major economic booster show for the financially fragile City of Detroit.

Ignition host Howard Green spoke with Max Muncey, PR Manager of NAIAS, to get a behind-the-scenes look at this year's North American International Auto Show.
