What is an ally and why should you be one? Why is a growth mindset a vital part of being an ally? How do we learn from a mistake or a non-inclusive action?

Kenji Yoshino is the Chief Justice Earl Warren Professor of Constitutional Law at NYU and the director of the Meltzer Center for Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging. He is also the author of two books that we discuss on the show, Covering: The Hidden Assault on Our Civil Rights and Say the Right Thing: How to Talk about Identity, Diversity, and Justice.

In this episode, we spoke with him about:

  • Why we should be an ally to both the people affected by non-inclusive behavior and the source
  • Why a growth mindset is vital to DEI
  • How to have conversations that matter through grace, compassion, and respect

At Metlife, we are committed to diversity, equity and inclusion and we believe making a difference in the lives of our customers, community, and the world around us is #AllTogetherPossible. Learn more and join us at MetLife.com.
