In this episode, I had the pleasure of interviewing Minette Norman, an author, speaker, and consultant who spent decades leading global teams in the software industry. Minette shared her insights on how to create inclusive and high-performing teams, how to overcome the challenges and opportunities as a woman in tech, and how to define and practice inclusive cultures, radical empathy, collaborative teams, and psychological safety. She also gave some valuable tips and tricks for aspiring speakers who want to deliver impactful presentations.

Minette has a very diverse background, having studied Drama and French in college and then working in the tech industry for over 20 years. She has written two books on how to create inclusive and high-performing teams: The Boldly Inclusive Leader and The Psychological Safety Playbook. She has been a leader in the male-dominated tech industry, leading 3,500 software professionals at Autodesk. She has been a prominent advocate for inclusive leadership, psychological safety, and empathy, making her a sought-after keynote speaker on these critical topics.

In this episode, you will learn:

  • How Minette made the transition from studying Drama and French to working in the tech industry and what skills she learned along the way
  • What inspired Minette to write her books and what are the main messages she wants to share with her readers
  • What were some of the challenges and opportunities Minette faced as a woman in tech and how she overcame them
  • What advice Minette has for companies and leaders looking to cultivate inclusive cultures and high-performing teams, particularly in industries where diversity and empathy are crucial for success
  • How Minette defines inclusive cultures, radical empathy, collaborative teams, and psychological safety and why they are important for organizations and individuals in today’s world
  • How Minette prepares for her speaking engagements and what are some of the tips and tricks she can share with aspiring speakers
  • Who is the most innovative entrepreneur that influences Minette most and why
  • Where you can find Minette and connect with her

I hope you enjoy this episode and learn a lot from Minette’s wisdom and experience. If you do, please leave a review and share it with your friends and colleagues. Thank you for listening!
