Sheriff Brian Schenck from Cayuga County joined us via Zoom for his monthly touch base, discussing a range of issues. He says work zone safety starts with a mindset change from motorists. While law enforcement can write tickets - there aren't enough deputies to cover every work zone in a county like Cayuga. Schenck also discussed a visit from a Finger Lakes SPCA shelter dog, which he hopes can lead to new programming opportunities at the Cayuga County Jail down the road, as well as a recent three day training to better assess behavioral threats that lead to violence.
