“Is there a certified medical professional on board?”

The question hung in the jet fuel infused air as we were taxiing for takeoff on a recent flight.

I had just settled in with my noise cancelling headphones, my psychology chapter pulled up on my phone, and my notebook and pen. I was relieved to catch up on studying after an exciting medical conference.

I heard a flight attendant bell ding … and then another. In that moment I paused as conflicting thoughts raced through my mind.

Knowing I had only one answer (for me), I reached up and pressed my call button too.

In the aftermath, I reflected on what made me pause, and the conflicting emotions I had for helping someone.

Why was there ever a doubt I would help?

Have you been in a similar circumstance?

I know I’m not alone in this, keep listening to hear more.
