More than 530 TAMIU candidates for graduation will participate in Fall Commencement Exercises Saturday, Dec. 13 in the Kinesiology-Convocation Building. In ceremonies last week, six students were selected for scholarships awarded by Deputy Consul General of México, Juan José Martínez De la Rosa. The Mexican consulate presented TAMIU a scholarship gift of $28,000. For the first time in its history TAMIU has been named to the President’s Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll which recognizes the important role universities play in solving community problems through meaningful and measurable student civic engagement in the community. Since Dec.1, local and area Stripes Convenience Store customers have been able to donate to the Stripes College Scholarship Fund and assist TAMIU and other students.
