Karen Phelan is sorry. She really is. She tried to do business by the numbers — the management consultant way — developing measures, optimizing processes, and quantifying performance. The only problem is that businesses are run by people. And people can’t be plugged into formulas or summed up in scorecards.
Her recently published book, I’m Sorry I Broke Your Company, When Management Consultants are the Problem, Not the Solution is a tragi-comic tale of how consulting practices often go awry and is currently available all over the world. Karen has been featured in Fortune online, Leadership Excellence magazine, the AMA Newsletter, as well various business blogs and radio shows and has recently been a featured speaker at the national HR Summit of the Conference Board of Canada.
