Hebrews 12:6 was quoting an old testament passage BEFORE the scourge weapon was ever invented. Today we discover that God does not beat his children, but rather the translator miserably failed.
Many Christians are misled by horrible teaching in translation from Hebrews chapter 12 regarding God's scourging his children. If you are aware that the scourge weapon was not even invented during the times of the old testament readings. As we read about the scourging in Hebrews, we need to recognize that it was quoting an old testament passage. It clearly appears that the author failed to translate the Hebrew word correctly. In this episode, we will discover that in the Old Testament God 'inquired deeply' into those he loved. The Hebrew word was biqqoret. Then fast forward hundreds of years later, a new weapon was invented that deeply inquired into the flesh. When the Jews went to name this weapon they got the name from what it did (inquired deeply), and since the weapon inquired deeply into the skin, there was the connection made with God inquiring deeply into those he loved. And consequently, we ended up with a terrible translation from Hebrew to English and ended up teaching God's children that God is basically beating us and ripping the flesh out of our body.
