Rachel Harris joins us to talk about her recent volume Teaching the Arab-Israeli Conflict, which brings together almost forty scholars who are teaching about Israeli and about the Arab-Israeli conflict in a range of institutions and settings to talk about how we teach about this conflict and why it matters.
Listen in as we use the book as a starting point to talk about not just teaching, but also the question of how we engage with the Arab-Israeli conflict (or any political issues) in a broad sense.
Rachel S. Harris is Associate Professor of Israeli Literature and Culture in Comparative and World Literature and the Program in Jewish Culture and Society at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. Her recent publications include An Ideological Death: Suicide in Israeli Literature (2014) and Warriors, Witches, Whores: Women in Israeli Cinema (2017).
