Wenn ältere Menschen in europäischen Hauptstädten zu Gunsten jüngerer auf medizinische Leistungen verzichten, wissend, dass sie damit ihr Leben geben? Begräbnisse nur im kleinsten Familienkreis – wie verändert das unsere Gesellschaft? Diese Fragen werden am Gründonnerstag besprochen. Aber auch die Hoffnung, die Menschen haben. Immer öfter sehen wir aus Spanien und Italien auch Bilder von Menschen, die die Intensivstationen wieder verlassen. Momente, wo das Leben den Tod besiegt hat. Momente der Freude, des Hoffens, der Liebe – und auch Momente des Glaubens.
