For any of us who have experienced a pivotal moment in our past and made a decision that (over time) proved to be of greater significance than we ever thought possible, we understand what true transformation feels like. Today’s guest is no stranger to this feeling after her decision to get sober mixed with her sheer drive and determination led to a series of serendipitous moments on her path to success. This week on Journeys Through Change, my guest Kelsey Moreira and I are talking about how sobriety led her to Forbes 30 Under 30, while breaking the stigma around mental health and addiction!

Kelsey Moreira is a wildly passionate entrepreneur who, after getting sober in 2015, ditched her decade-long tech career with Intel and followed her sweet tooth to open her own cookie dough company: Doughp. Kelsey has appeared twice on ABC’s Shark Tank, was named a Forbes 20 Under 30, an Inc Female Founder 200, and even ranked #274 in the Inc 5000 Fastest Growing Companies in America. Given her personal recovery journey, she has become a leader in the mental health & recovery advocacy space. Since starting the #Doughp4Hope initiative in 2018, Doughp has committed to reducing stigmas around addiction recovery and mental health inside and outside the company. They are a designated Recovery Friendly Workplace and have donated more than $100,000 to nonprofits working in this space.

In this episode, Kelsey and I discuss:

  • Kelsey’s intense desire to overachieve and be “perfect” led her to use alcohol as a way to escape and the breaking point that told her enough was enough.
  • How her edible cookie dough company, Doughp started with a cart and a wagon and grew into a massive, wildly successful business.
  • The #Doughp4Hope initiative’s way of advocating for mental health and addiction recovery.
  • How motherhood has changed Kelsey’s internal landscape, bringing about a deeper sense of purpose and personal growth.

Change is inevitable. That’s why I designed the Day by Daybook®, a guided journal to help you face the discomfort of those shifts in life that are pushing you to that next level of growth and learning. Get your Day by Daybook® here.
