Journaling might seem like a thing of the past, or simply too time consuming, but there are lasting benefits to the practice that are often overlooked. With anxiety and depression on the rise, it’s critical now more than ever to do what we can to support our emotional balance every day and that’s where journaling comes in. Even devoting 5 minutes a day to this powerful practice can yield results. In this episode, I discuss:

  • How I started my practice of journaling and the role it played in my sobriety.
  • Scientifically proven benefits of journaling for your mental health.
  • Revisiting your journal entries to become an observer of your life and see things from a different perspective.
  • Writing as a way to activate and exercise thought pathways in your brain.
  • 3 things to keep in mind as you start your journey with journaling.

Not sure where to begin? Here are some prompts to get you started:

  • I’d like to live by these words…
  • Unconditional love in my life looks like…
  • I do not want to think about living without…
  • I’d like to tell my teenage self…
  • I’ll never forget these two moments in my life…
  • These are the top 30 things that make me smile…
  • I’d like people to know this about me…
  • I would like to say yes to…
  • My first love was…
  • I am happy in my own skin when…
  • My body is telling me…
