Some parents may even use physical violence against their children in the worst cases. Children who witness this kind of behavior can develop low self-esteem and become withdrawn or aggressive toward others. They also have an increased risk of developing mental health problems, including anxiety disorders and depression later in life.

Valeria shares her background story on how she decided not to talk at the age of six because of the family dynamics. Her father used to yell at her a lot.
