Our guest today is an obsessive runner and incredibly experienced technology integrator in education - David Brown.

If there is someone who knows how to integrate technology into day-to-day teaching (not just for the novelty factor, the cool gadgets, and the esoteric) but to actually achieve better results, to minimise repetitive work, to increase collaboration, to create a learning experience, to even fast track curriculum outcomes - it is David.

Now, he marries the knowledge in technology, gadgets and software with an equal quantity of passion into all of these areas because, if you walk into his office where we recorded this interview, you will see 3D printed projects, drones, interactive screens, microphones, all kinds of cameras, superhero figurines, robotics equipment and an array of gadgets.

So David's background is he is currently the Education Technology Integrator at St Mary's Anglican Girls School. One of the few in this state with this title, and is a driver for the importance of this role being introduced into other schools. With 20 years of experience in education, and an analytical mindset that David has, we "geek out" slightly and get into how to eliminate worksheets and never photocopy again, create flexibility and provide individualised teaching to each student without added workloads, small technology based activities and projects that you can apply straight away that lead to some great outcomes, why coding is one of the most valuable skills to teach students, selecting technology for the value it brings as opposed to the value it could bring, how to create freedom - the apps, software, tools, hacks, and products that you need to know about, and that problem based learning could make teaching slightly easier.
