Discover Your Purpose

Larry O’Nan

I’m often told, “Brother Bob, I just don’t what to do…” and then the purpose I’m talking to goes off on a dissertation of all the things that are going wrong in their life. I’m sure you’ve had conversations with others about the same things… or maybe you’re the one we are having these conversations with.

Either way – you will want to pay attention today! Praise God!

Our guest today will help you to learn how to “intentionally” live a thriving lifestyle where you are able to be a blessing to others instead of a burden to others. I believe that by the end of this interview today, you will gain new insights that will help to transform your daily living and equip you to be in a position to help others who may be struggling right now. Amen!

Larry O’Nan is a Christian speaker and author, serving on numerous community and Christian non-profit organization boards. He and his wife, Pat, served as full-time staff with “Campus Crusade for Christ” for 18 years! Praise God! Through his efforts, he developed and oversaw several growth initiatives that resulted in more than $150 million dollars raised for evangelism and development programs worldwide. Amen!

He is a recognized specialist in non-profit board governance, non-profit management and major gift strategy design and implementation. He is the author of two books, “Giving Yourself Away,” published in 1984 and his most recent book, “Intentional Living and Giving” that was just released in June 2024.

Help me welcome to the program, Larry O’Nan! Larry, it is a blessing to have you with us today. Thank you for taking the time out of your busy schedule to join us today. I do appreciate it.

You started off serving in the ministry as leader on the development team with a “billion dollar goal” as your vision! I take it, that was not the goal when you first started out on the development team. Share with us what your background was that got you to that point…

If your church was already envisioning this type of growth, what was the “stewardship” like that needed to change?

Can you tell us what you wrote at the bottom of your note pad that became your, basically, self-motivational tool? (“go for it – you have the freedom to fail”)

At what point did you realize that mentoring and consulting with other non-profit leadership teams was your calling?

The Bible is filled, from front to back, of example after example of those who put GOD FIRST being blessed. That blessing included financially, etc. How was this different from what you were discovering in your research?

If stewardship is not about money, what is it about?

Let’s talk about your book, “Intentional Living and Giving.” Why did you write this book and why did you believe it was needed now?

You state in your book, “Intentional Living and Giving,” that this is not about obtaining increased donations from donors…if not, then how do you go about raising the funds needed for ministry?

There is no doubt that living in this day and time is extremely difficult, financially, spiritually and socially, than ever before. Many people are now in debt up to their eyeballs just trying to hold on. You can blame the economy or whatever…

Why do so many people start off strong and doing the right things, but then end up doing something foolish that just messes up their lives? Is there a way to help keep them from messing up to begin with?

How can your book help them to take charge of their lives again if they have messed up?

As we get ready to close, what would you say to someone listening right now to help them get back on track and begin that walk towards a fulfilled life?

Larry, this is so interesting and definitely so needful in this day and time we live in right now. How can someone obtain a copy of your book, “Intentional Living and Giving?” I take it the book is on Amazon?

If someone wanted to reach out to you, to ask a question, obtain more information or possibly to do an interview such as this. How can they do that? How can someone get in touch with you?

I’ll put links to all of this in the show notes below.

Folks, what Larry O’Nan has shared with us today is priceless. Just taking ONE of the tips he has provided us today can turn your life around from wondering and wandering and struggling to thriving, ministering and sharing. Amen!

This book has a unique blend of biblical insights, practical application, and relatable anecdotes which will minister to you as you seek to fulfill your stewardship calling with intention and purpose. This book, literally, can turn your life around and impact others in the process.
