Ponaka Kanakamma (1892–1963) was a social worker, activist and freedom fighter, got imprisoned over two years. She founded Sri Kasturidevi Vidyalayam, a school for girls in Nellore. She has implemented many social reforming activities under the name of Sujanaranjani Samajam. She had also contributed to Telugu Literature by writing poems, essays, columns and translations , that too without formal education. She has dedicated 45 years of her life for social causes.
