Hospice Services of St Joseph Health view grief as a normal process that can be accompanied by fear, loneliness and uncertainty. Our Grief Support Services are designed to provide emotional and social support and education to individuals through one-to-one counseling and support groups.
Over 550,000 people volunteer at hospices around the country, donating 25 million hours of service. Volunteers are an integral part of our hospice team. Our volunteers receive extensive training and ongoing education and support.
Do you want to make a difference? Become a hospice volunteer!
There are plenty of ways for you to share your gifts with our patients, families, community and staff. There are opportunities to volunteer in the home and extended care settings as well as in the office providing support to the Hospice Team. In addition, we have need for volunteers in grief support and at special events.
Hospice volunteers are interviewed and screened. Then, each volunteer participates in a comprehensive 8 week training which helps to prepare them to be an important part of our Hospice Team.
