Thalea String Quartet opens the 5th season of the Brave New Music concert series in Healdsburg, CA.
Formed at the Zephyr International Music Festival in Courmayeur, Italy, they are now based in the San Francisco Bay Area. They have performed in a number of U.S. cities as well as Canada. The ensemble recently completed their tenure as the first quartet-in-residence at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music.
The quartet has been praised for their exuberance and their technical proficiency. The Calgary Herald (Canada) enthused that they have “the potential to be one of the finest [string quartets] of their generation.”
Included on the Thalea's program are Haydn's Quartet in D major, Op. 76, No.5; Anton Webern's Langsamer Satz; Satellites III: "Dimensions" by Garth Knox, and Mendelssohn's Quartet in F minor, Op. 80.
