[Engelse aflevering]
In this episode, I talk with migration and sexuality historian/scholar Andrew Shield about migration and sexual politics. We discuss homonationalist politics under Pim Fortuyn to today, and how this contributes to the exclusion of migrants from LGBT communities. We go further back in time to look at the overlap, solidarities and common struggles between migrants and the sexual liberation movement.
For further reading check out Witte Innocence by Gloria Wekker, Marokkanen in Nederland: die pioniers vertellen by Nadira Bouras and Annemarie Cottaar, and the work by Wigbertson Julian Isenia, Chelsea Schields and Chandra Frank.
