When Caroline started it was a new beginning, and he listened to all the stations, but Caroline was his favourite by far. Later he became a singer in a band, then started doing discos when he was 18. Big Thief 's Adrianne Lenker joins Kyle Meredith to talk about her new solo album, Bright Future. Listen to the new episode wherever you get your podcasts.
The songwriter discusses recording much of the album in the morning in her bedroom, as well as how such a setting ultimately manifested within the songs (she even left noises from the room in the final mix). Beyond the comfortable recording environment, she also chats about how her recent songwriting class affected her approach, explaining what she learned about herself and her abilities throughout the process.
Of the more surprising sources of inspiration for Bright Future was the 1998 film Deep Impact, which she admits has been influencing her since she was seven years old.
