Appeals court upholds Steve Bannon's contempt of Congress conviction

Former top Trump adviser Steve Bannon is now one step closer to serving prison time. Bannon lost his appeal of his contempt of Congress conviction.

He had refused to appear before the House Jan. 6 Committee and was found guilty of contempt of Congress at trial. He was sentenced to four months in prison. But Bannon has remained out of jail, as he's sought to have his conviction and sentence overturned.

Now, a three-judge panel of the D.C. Circuit Appeals Court has unanimously ruled against him. Fellow former Trump aide Peter Navarro began his four-month sentence for contempt in March.
