On this week’s episode I’m joined by Verity Milligan, an acclaimed professional photographer and content creator based in Birmingham, UK. Renowned for capturing the richness of the natural world, she works both locally and internationally for recognized brands.

Verity's signature lies in revealing the essence of diverse locations, be it Birmingham's skyline, the rugged Outer Hebrides, or the serene Lake District. Through masterful use of light and composition, she crafts images that evoke mood and draw viewers into the scene.

Having traversed the UK, from the Scottish Highlands to the hills of Worcestershire, Verity is driven to capture the UK’s natural beauty with a keen eye and a passion for storytelling.

Verity recounts her early experiences in genealogy, cinema and lecturing before turning to photography, initially as a stress outlet and eventually as a full-fledged career. She eloquently describes the allure of being out in nature, capturing images that resonate with her passion for the outdoors.

We discuss the combative nature of imposter syndrome and the importance of authenticity, motivation and human connection in photography. Verity also gives insightful thoughts on her experiences with YouTube video production and shares potential challenges facing the future of photography.

I hope you enjoy the show!
