Have you ever “googled” yourself? Have you ever googled yourself as a person of color? There is a dominant narrative that has been encoded into the largest search platforms in the world and they have all made their money off the backs of our identities. Our stories and our histories are being written and often rewritten due to the lack of representation in the technology industry. We are less than 4% across the board in the technology industry.
Latinas, and other marginalized communities are too often perceived by dominant historical perspectives that diminish our rights and digital equity. And yet, AI technology and other platforms continue to advance, through the greatest power we hold in our hands today, the smart phone.
The questions to ask of AI is who is this technology advancement for? How can we give more equity to communities of color and more specifically, communities of color and the LGBTQ+ communities the power to share and write their future narratives? How can Brands show up for true accountability all year long and beyond? Building more digital equity for our communities will allow us to speak our truth. #sisepuede
