Sunday Service A Prescription for Peace - Part 3 Philippians 4:4-9 THEME: We live in a fast-paced, stressed-out world where the majority of us try our best to maintain crazy-busy lives with jam-packed schedules, never-ending demands, and ever-growing list of things to do. The hectic, chaotic pace of life coupled with the unavoidable pressures and problems and pains that are part of all of our lives has left most of us feeling frazzled and exhausted and longing for peace. Peace is something everyone wants but few seem to find. At the end of his letter to the believers in Philippi, Paul gave a series of practical exhortations we need to follow in order to experience the peace God has promised to provide us in Christ. Like a skilled spiritual physician, Paul provided the Philippians and us with a prescription for peace. There are FIVE STEPS in his treatment plan that if carefully followed will alleviate all our fears and anxieties along with all our guilt and shame. 1. BE JOYFUL ALL THE TIME (v. 4) 2. TREAT EVERYONE GRACIOUSLY (v. 5) 3. WORRY ABOUT NOTHING - PRAY ABOUT EVERYTHING (vv. 6-7) 4. THINK ONLY ABOUT THE RIGHT THINGS (v. 8) 5. ALWAYS DO WHAT YOU KNOW IS RIGHT (v. 9) Thank God that He is a God of peace who provides you His peace through His Son Jesus Christ who lives in you. Ask Him to help you be like that bird hidden in the cleft of the waterfall who experiences that peace which surpasses all comprehension regardless of the circumstances (cf. 2 Thessalonians 3:16).
