Steve was one of the early innovators working on the protocol, taking the Wi-Fi interface into the commercial world. He was one of three people to form Silicon Valley Network. They took the ethernet and created the commercial name Wi-Fi. Silicon Valley Network became the Wi-Fi Alliance and Steve would end up selling his company to HP. The latter setup Wi-Fi certification labs. HP would go onto setup digital subscriber.
