A Letter to the Woman Who Hates Asking for Help // Therese Williams
Manage episode 303767696 series 1453173
I think we can all agree that it’s no fun to go through suffering. And not only is it hard to go through a season of suffering, it’s also hard to admit you need help - at least it is for me. It’s a humbling experience to admit I need help carrying a cross.
In today’s episode, I’m sitting down with Therese Williams.
Stricken with spinal meningitis at eighteen months old, Therese has lived as a quadriplegic for more than forty years. Listening to Therese talk about her life that’s been full of suffering left em in awe of how she’s come to not only accept the cross Christ asked her to pick up, but to love it. And to embrace it
If you’re struggling to accept the suffering in your life that you didn’t choose, or if you’re feeling ashamed for having to ask for help, sister, this letter is for you.
Topics we talked about in this episode:
- The differences between resigning yourself to suffering and embracing suffering
- Why God allows bad things to happen to good people
- How to combat the lies of abandonment
- What we mean when we say “offer it up”
- How suffering has changed Therese’s experience with the Eucharist and Our Lady
- The duty we have to ask others for help
