Welcome to the Indie Writer Podcast where we talk about all things writing and indie publishing. Today, host Cari Dubiel talks about writing True Crime with guest authors April Moore and Jane Turzillo.

April Moore is former director of Northern Colorado Writers, an association for writers offering classes, workshops, and an annual conference. She is also the author of Folsom's 93: The Lives and Crimes of Folsom Prison's Executed Men (Linden Publishing 2013). She is also the author of several articles, essays, a women's fiction, and a young adult manuscript that is impatiently awaiting edits. April is currently working with a new publisher on a revised edition of Folsom's 93, set for publication in Fall 2023, and will graduate summa cum laude (if all goes well) in June 2022 with her bachelors in Criminal Justice.

Jane Ann Turzillo combines her love of history with her fascination of true crime on her blog and in her books. Wicked Women of Ohio and Unsolved Murders & Disappearances in Northeast Ohio were both nominated for an Agatha and both won the Ohio Professional Writers award for adult non-fiction/history. Wicked Women of Ohio and Unsolved Murders & Disappearances in Northeast Ohio have both won honors from the National Federation of Press Women.

When she isn’t writing books or giving presentations on historical crimes, she writes a blog at darkheartedwomen.wordpress.com. She holds degrees in Criminal Justice Technology and Mass-Media Communication from The University of Akron. Her memberships include Mystery Writers of America, Sisters in Crime and National Federation of Press Women.
