Jesus tells us in Luke Chapter 8:18 to "take heed how we hear." How can you hear without a preacher? Jesus came as a preacher of the Kingdom of God. The established religionist of Judaism, though they knew the Scriptures of the OT better than anyone alive, didn't hear what was written. They didn't mix it with faith. They didn't believe. Their focus was on a rule book and all they heard were rules and didn't receive the Seed of the Word with a good and honest heart. The result: What they seemed to have was taken away.
